Kiboko River Camp
Luxury Safari Stay at Kiboko River Camp.
Kiboko River Camp is among the luxury camps in Tsavo West National Park, and it’s the best choice for anyone looking for an opportunity to enjoy a romantic adventure in the wilderness of Kenya. Nestled along the serene banks of the Galana River, the Kiboko River Camp will serve as your gateway to the most amazing sights in Africa, called the “Land of the Red Elephants. ” If you are a shutterbug or a family in search of a relaxing safari experience, then this is the place for you.
The camp features luxury tents and deluxe suites that redefine “glamping”. Climate control, king-size beds, large closets, and balcony rooms overlooking the river characterise all our units. The combination of furniture inspired by Africa, combined with the facilities, such as internet and hot showers, ensures that you feel part of the jungle even as you stay connected to the outside world.
Kiboko River Camp: Its Major Attractions
Galana River Riverside Location
The most striking aspect of Kiboko River Camp is its prime location at the banks of the Galana River. In contrast to other camps that are situated in the middle of the arid bush, this one provides its visitors with an opportunity to witness nature from the very heart of the river’s ecosystem. Visitors have the luxury of relaxing on their private balconies while watching the famous “red” elephants of Tsavo, which are coloured due to the region’s volcanic soil, make their way to the river for watering and bathing purposes.
Infinity Pool and Water Hole.
Another picturesque place that can be seen in the camp is the infinity swimming pool, which appears to merge with the Galana River. In addition to that, there is a water hole dug up next to the major places for the purpose of attracting wild animals. A great feature for the modern-day tourist in the camp is an application designed by the camp for keeping track of events happening around the water hole via a live camera feed.
Driven Safari Design.
Kiboko River Camp has set itself apart by being at the forefront of accessible travel. It is one of the only hotels in the region that has been built keeping in mind the complete removal of physical obstacles from the premises. Be it the large stone walkways on campus or the specially modified safari jeeps with ramps, everything here is designed with accessibility in mind. Even the infinity pool offers a remote chair.
Safari Adventures at Kiboko Lodge.
Guided Safaris in Tsavo East.
The classic safari adventure in Tsavo is to explore the expansive and wide-open savanna looking for the “Big Five”. At Kiboko, visitors can go on morning safaris, evening safaris, or full-day safaris. The most rewarding experience is the morning game drive, when you watch the sunrise against the Yatta Plateau, the largest lava flow in the world, while predators are out hunting. On the evening safari, you might catch a glimpse of elusive nocturnal animals such as the leopard or the hyena.
Guided Nature Walks by Maasai Warriors.
If you have been yearning to walk through Africa and feel the ground beneath your feet, then this is what you need. On these guided walks, one gets to explore the “little five” along with all the details of the ecosystem that are not visible from the confines of the vehicle. This is an opportunity to understand traditional medicine and tracking animals’ footsteps, along with experiencing the local culture, which has been living alongside these wild animals for centuries.
Birdwatching and photography.
With more than 500 bird species documented, Tsavo East becomes an ornithologist’s haven. Some of the birds that can be seen from the terraces of the camp include the colourful Hartlaub’s turaco, the martial eagle, and the Somali ostrich. The unique lighting conditions and riverine vegetation found at the camp create ideal photographic opportunities, especially during the golden hour with red elephant dust.

Best Time to Visit.
For visiting the camp for a Kenya safari tour, it is recommended that you visit during the dry months from June to October and again from January to February. At such times, most animals can be found along the banks of the Galana River, where the experience will be memorable. For those who want to view various birds, the “Green Season” from November to April will be most fitting.
How to Get There.
Kiboko River Camp is easily reached from both the coast and the capital.

From Mombasa: A 4-hour scenic drive through the highway and into the park.
